R.S. Mitchell - Owner, Senior Instructor
Mr. Mitchell has been studying Martial Arts for 40 years and holds a 6th degree AKKS Black Belt. Training with many of Kenpo's most revered practitioners, Mr. Mitchell has gained a vast store of wisdom that he shares through teaching intermediate adult and junior black belt classes. Mr. Mitchell holds advanced rank in several other styles of martial arts including Cane Masters and Cali, Philipino Stick Fighting, and is a certified CDT Instructor and Personal Fitness Trainer. He also provides instructor training to our Leadership Club, students who wish to pass on the knowledge they've gained in their training. Mr. Mitchell's presence is felt throughout the studio.
Melody Mitchell - Owner, Senior Instructor
A 6th degree AKKS Black Belt, Mrs. Mitchell has a soft spot for the youngest students in the studio. Many in the world of Kenpo felt 3 to 5 year olds could not learn martial arts. Instrumental in developing the Little Dragons program, Mrs. Mitchell has had great success with youngsters in this age group. Mrs. Mitchell can be found teaching the After School Program, working with the intermediate students age's 6 to 12, and helping our Junior Black Belts. She is also a certified Personal Fitness Trainer. The ubiquitous Mrs. Mitchell rules with an "iron hand in a velvet glove."
Brian Heins, Senior Instructor
Mr. Heins holds an 8th degree AKKS Black Belt and serves the studio as advisor and instructor. Mr. Heins has a studio in the Baltimore area and visits MMA on a weekly basis. Mr. Heins has over 30 years of experience in the martial arts and is co-founder of the American Kenpo Karate System with Jeff Speakman.
Conrad Morgan - School Manager, Senior Instructor
A senior instructor and the school manager, he holds the rank of 1st degree AKKS Black Belt. Mr. Morgan has studied Kenpo for over 9 years. Mr. Morgan teaches beginner classes in the Afterschool Program, assists in coaching the studio's demonstration team and directs Delmarva's Most Exciting summer camp, Camp X!!
Raymond Dukes - Instructor
Mr Dukes has been studying Kenpo for over 8 years and holds a 3rd degree AKKS Black Belt. He instructs the beginner adult and teen classes and assists in teaching the Junior Black Belts. He is training in the Art of Cali Stick and Knife Fighting with Mr. Mitchell.
Zack Bennett - Instructor
Mr. Bennett has been studying Kenpo for over 7 years and holds a 1st degree AKKS Black Belt. He is the Coach/Choreographer of the Demonstration Team and instructs the Black Belt Club classes. Mr. Bennett teaches the home schooled day classes as well as our intermediate students ages 6-12 in the evening classes.
Kena Williams - Instructor
Ms. Williams has been studying Kenpo for almost 8 years and holds a 1st degree AKKS Black Belt test. She instructs all the Lil' Dragons classes for kids ages 3 to 5 in our afterschool program as well as our evening students.
Karen Hubbard - Instructor
Mrs. Hubbard has just been promoted to 1st degree AKKS Black Belt and has been training for over 6 years. She is the Instructor for our beginner kids ages 6 to 12 and our Basic White Belt classes for those brand new students. She is also certified in Cane Masters and a Personal Fitness Trainer.
Assistant Instructors
Assistant Instructors are adults who have studied a number of years, are enrolled in our comprehensive weekly training program and have the desire to pass their knowledge on to others.
Our Black Belt Assistant Instructors are David Brewster, Brian Satterfield, Travis Hubbard, Charles Young and Gwendolyn Alsamadi.
Associate Instructors
Associate Instructors are adults who have studied with us for a number of years and who have a desire to pass on their knowledge to others. According to their belt rank, these instructors teach only the classes for which they are qualified. Regular instructor training assures that techniques are taught in a consistent manner.
